About Charlie Lang
Charlie has been a pioneer of Executive Coaching in Asia having been one of the first professionally trained coaches in Hong Kong in 2002. While pursuing his passion for coaching, Charlie has developed one of the most important coaching organizations operating in the Asian region, with offices in Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Mumbai, Shanghai, Singapore and Tokyo and with over 80 carefully selected Executive Coaches and Facilitators in 15 cities in Asia.
Charlie is a prolific thought leader and author in the areas of Organizational Culture, Leadership and Coaching, having written over 200 articles as well as the 2 books, “The Groupness Factor” (in 2005) and “The Coach Factor” (in 2012). Publications such as CareerTimes, Effective Executive, Human Resources Magazine, South China Morning Post, etc. reported about Charlie. He also appeared on RTHK and Cable TV.
Charlie co-designed the first Executive Diploma Program in Corporate Coaching for Hong Kong University in 2005 and is also the mastermind behind one of the most extensive coach certification programs in Asia which achieved Level I and II accreditation with the Worldwide Association of Business Coaches (WABC) as well as ACSTH approval from the International Coach Federation (ICF). This program is regularly conducted in Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Mumbai, Shanghai and Singapore.
Being one of the foremost respected Executive Coaches in Asia, Charlie focuses on working exclusively with top-level executives. He has successfully coached C-Level executives from organizations such as adidas, BASF, Bayer, General Electric, IBM, L’Oreal, Mahindra, Natixis, Pfizer, TE Connectivity, TESCO, etc.
Charlie was born and raised in Germany where he graduated with a Masters in Mechanical Engineering, lived in Lyon/France for a post-graduate degree in International Marketing and moved to Asia in late 2001 to set up an Asia-Pacific headquarter for his previous employer in Hong Kong. His corporate career included senior executive positions as Managing Director and Vice-President Sales & Marketing for Asia Pacific. During his career, Charlie traveled to over 60 countries (many of them multiple times), shaping a very global outlook and a deep level of intercultural competence.
Charlie coaches in English and German and is able to communicate in French.
Charlie founded Progress-U because of his passion of making a positive difference in organizations for the benefit of all stakeholders. He recognized that traditional approaches to developing leaders and sales people were ineffective and provided a poor return on investment. Through his extensive experience, relentless passion and continous research, Charlie developed innovative ways to support organizations in achieving leadership excellence and a conducive corporate culture leading ultimately to improved business success.
