PROGRAM FORMAT

Following our learning approach, Progress-U developed an effective format for leadership and sales competencies development:

Pre-Course Preparations

Description Activity Who? / When?
Environment assessment

Discussion with management, interview of selected participants

Purpose: Make adjustments to standard program design for maximum effectiveness; manage expectations to achieve high client satisfaction

Trainer, management, selected trainees

1-3 months before training course

Individual assessment

Typically online assessment, debriefing during training course or in subsequent coaching sessions

Purpose: Increase awareness for participants of supporting and adverse traits

All participants, trainer

2 weeks - 3 months before training course

Pre-course questionnaire

Questionnaire with questions related to training content and current practices

Purpose: Increase engagement and self-awareness of participants; provide additional info for trainer to further optimize course content and delivery

All participants

1 - 6 weeks before training course

 

Training Course

Description Activity Who? / When?
Training course: seminar and/or workshop

Depending on topic choice of seminar or workshop or blended format. Highly interactive and participative due to coaching style delivery.

Inclusion of 'real plays' (using real situations / persons) in order to make it more relevant and realisitic.

Depending on topic and learning needs:

Between 0.5 and 3 days; train-the-trainer courses up to 5 days

 

Post-Course Activities

Description Activity Who? / When?
Group coaching sessions

Follow-up meetings with all participants, either in meeting room or by phone or video conference.

Purpose: Sharing of success stories, discussion why certain behavior changes didn't succeed, support during implementation, deepening of learning from seminar/workshop

All trainees, trainer

2 - 5 sessions, 60-120min each, starting 1-2 weeks after course

1:1 coaching sessions

Follow-up 1:1 coching sessions, if possible, including shadow coaching sessions (the coach joins the coachee in real work situations like meetings, etc.)

Purpose: Deepening of learning from seminar/workshop, dealing with individual difficulties, specific and targeted development, encouragement

All trainees, trainer

2 - 6 sessions, 45-90min each, starting 1-2 weeks after course

review sessions

Meetings with management / HR to review past activities, determine necessary adjustments and potentially necessary further action

Purpose: Assure effective development of participants, feedback on necessary improvements on both client and trainer side

Management, trainer

Ongoing, starting from training course, typically 2 - 5 sessions.
